Faspro Technologies offers a wide range of manufacturing processes to support the needs of our customers in thin gauge sheet metal prototype and short run fabrication as well as for custom assembly and packaging needs.
Photochemical machining (PCM), also known as photochemical milling or photo etching, is a chemical milling process used to fabricate sheet metal components using a photoresist and etchants to corrosively machine away selected areas. This process emerged in the 1960s as an offshoot of the printed circuit board industry. Photo etching can produce highly complex parts with very fine detail accurately and economically.
This process can offer economical alternatives to stamping, punching, laser or water jet cutting, or wire electrical discharge machining (EDM) for thin gauge precision parts. The tooling is inexpensive and quickly produced. This makes the process useful for prototyping and allows for easy changes in mass production. It maintains dimensional tolerances and does not create burrs or sharp edges. It can make a part in hours after receiving the drawing.
PCM can be used on virtually any commercially available metal or alloy, of any hardness. It is limited to materials with a thickness of 0.0005 to 0.080 in (0.013 to 2.0 mm). Metals include aluminium, brass, copper, inconel, manganese, nickel, silver, steel, stainless steel, zinc and titanium.
Faspro Technologies has in-house laser cutting capabilities which allows us to quickly start new prototype development projects and adapt to changes throughout the design / manufacturing process.
Forming and Drawing
Prototype and short-run thin gauge metal forming involves a combination of machines and/or hand operations that are able to produce simple and complex forms to meet stringent requirements and tolerances.
Not only do we create high precision blanks from the chemical photo milling process, we also then take those blanks and plate them in house when needed by our customers. We can electroplate in copper, tin, nickel and gold at our facility. If you need something special, we’ll manage it for you with one of our partners.
Fabrication and Assembly
Faspro Technologies’ Fabrication and Assembly department is a key part of our ability to deliver component parts and assemblies that are ready for use. In many cases, these components are created in part or in whole by Faspro Technologies.
Faspro Technologies has various presses, electrochemical etching, and laser cutting capabilities to support your prototype and short run production projects.
Value added services include design and manufacturing service we provide directly and through our partners to provide a turnkey solution for your product manufacturing needs.
